Humble Pie – Smokin’

Released in 1972 Smokin’ was the fifth studio album from Humble Pie and their first after the departure of Peter Frampton. The album charted #6 on the US Billboard 200. Stephen Stills wanders into the session after completing his own recordings in an adjacent studio. He then ends up guesting on ‘Road Runners ‘G’ Jam’ playing Hammond organ fills and also adding backing vocals on ‘Hot ‘n’ Nasty’.  Quadraphonic format only released on Q8 which successfully kept the original LP track order. Finally got to listen to this last nite. I already love this record so I know the material. The quad is very good on some songs and not so good on others. The problem tracks suffer from way too much reverb just like many other A&M Q8 releases but it’s not bad enough to hate it.
